Edinson Cavani is being linked with a summer move to Liverpool. TMW report that his representatives are intent on him moving to England.

Liverpool are in the market for a new winger and Edinson Cavani would certainly meet the necessary requirements. His pace and work rate would appeal to Jürgen Klopp as it would suit Liverpool’s high pressing style.

With Zlatan Ibrahimović leaving Paris Saint-Germain, Cavani would likely be in line to play more often but perhaps the challenge of playing in England with Liverpool could catch his fancy as it did with Luis Suarez.

Since signing for the French giants, he has scored 81 goals in 148 appearances, equaling a goal every 2 games. While, on the face of it, it may seem very respectable it is worth noting that he is playing in Ligue 1 which is hardly a highly competitive division.

That being said, Cavani has shown in tournaments like the 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cups that he is a brilliant player. He is already accustomed to scoring against English opponents with his goal against Chelsea in the Champions League last season brilliantly taken.

Paris Saint-Germain’s number 9 is capable of playing anywhere across the front three which would be fantastic as Liverpool are short of real quality in the striker and right wing positions. Cavani tends to drop in behind the last man with perfectly timed runs and is an ever present outlet – he would be a far cry from the static Benteke that haunted Liverpool during 2015/16.
