The Liverpool Echo have rubbished rumours and conjecture that Gonzalo Higuain was on his way to play under Jürgen Klopp.
As disappointing as it may be, it’s probably better to be disappointed sooner rather than later.
Every single person connected with Liverpool was ecstatic when images emerged of Klopp sitting next Higuain’s brother and agent during the Copa America clash featuring Chile and Argentina. The news emerged from beIn SPORTS and now seems to be the typical spawn of the silly season.
The Liverpool Echo are reporting that Liverpool have no interest whatsoever in the player and that Klopp was only at the game due to him being in the States for a holiday.
It does seem incredibly unlikely that there could be such a tremendous coincidence but that does seem to be the case. Liverpool would have to break the club’s current record transfer fee of £35 million to sign the Argentinian. The FSG model has been to buy small, sell big so logic would dictate that the deal would never happen.
