Rumour Mill: Barcelona's Aleix Vidal to Liverpool

The Metro have linked Liverpool to the signing of out of favour winger, Aleix Vidal. This stems from Liverpool’s lack of strength in wide areas.

The Spaniard is very versatile and has shown this at Barcelona, performing admirably in his debut season at the Camp Nou. He he has struggled, however to break into the  first team with Dani Alves supreme at right fullback and Lionel Messi, well, it’s Messi – what are you going to do?

According to Mundo Deportivo, an offer for the former Sevilla man would have to be around £45 million to activate his buyout clause. This is the same as the the fee require for Yacine Brahimi.

A bid for Vidal would be preferable over Porto’s star Algerian winger. For the same price tag, the Spaniard has more experience of a high level of football. That being said, he hasn’t played much having to be content with 544 minutes in La Liga for the whole season.

Liverpool are in desperate need of strengthening as far as wingers go. The Guardian are reporting that Southampton’s Sadio Mané is a primary target of Jürgen Klopp with the fee said to be in the region of £25 million. The Senegal international scored 11 goals and set up 6 goals for the Saints. He was pivotal in their 6th place finish.

If Liverpool can buy players that suit Klopp’s high pressing game Liverpool will be a great watch next season. Borussia Dortmund under Klopp were terrific and ceaselessly exciting. It’s difficult not to be optimistic about what is to come under Klopp.
