Aaron Curry summarizes all the possible comings and goings at Liverpool Football Club.

With the season finally at its conclusion for all Premier League teams, it’s only a matter of weeks until the summer transfer window officially opens. Although this is the case, most teams are already looking to strengthen their squads before the European Championships and crucially, before their rivals. Liverpool are no exception to this as they have already registered three new players to the roster. Joël Matip, Marko Grujić and in the last few days, Loris Karius.

As we have become accustomed to, transfer speculation is now in full flow and there are no shortage of rumours floating around.

Perhaps the most intriguing speculation so far is the continuation of the Mario Gotzë saga. Reports from several newspapers initially suggested the player desperately wanted to make a move to Merseyside; in order to complete a reunion with his former boss Jürgen Klopp.

This would have cost the club a mere £20 million, which didn’t seem like a bad deal considering the players undeniable potential. However, after a split from his agent the deal took a turn for the worse. Sky Sports are reporting that Gotzë has decided to stick at Bayern where he will have to fight off other world-class talents to earn a place in the starting XI.

Gotzë would have undoubtedly become a fan favourite at Anfield, playing alongside the likes of Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino in behind the striker – whoever Klopp chooses as his go-to goal threat. It would have been an attack that could destroy defences with ease.

In other news, FC Köln’s Jonas Hector could be ready for transfer talks according to the Metro. They recently acquired the services of another left-back, Konstantin Rausch potentially freeing up a move for the 25 year-old German international.

After the abysmal displays by Alberto Moreno in recent times (most notably in the Europa League final), this signing would be more than welcomed by the Liverpool faithful. The fans have lost their patience with the Spaniard meaning a new left-back is in dire need.

With this also comes news of other players in the same position. The Liverpool ECHO state that Liverpool have made a bid for Lorient’s Raphael Guerreiro. The Portuguese player has made more than 100 appearances for the Ligue 1 side. Along with this, there are also reports from the Daily Mail which say Liverpool are set to test Leicester City’s resolve with a £4 million offer for the full back. Either of these signings would definitely not be frowned upon.

Finally, there are rumours emerging from Portuguese newspaper A Bola that the Algerian and Porto winger Yacine Brahimi is close to agreeing a deal. This rumour seems extremely spurious due to the £45 million price tag Liverpool are apparently set to pay. Liverpool’s club record signing stands at £35 million, for which we bought Andy Carroll from Newcastle United in January 2011.

He has contributed to 42 goals in his 86 appearances in his time with his current club and would no doubt be a positive signing in more ways than one. Liverpool have lacked significant threat from the wings for several seasons now, meaning this rumour is certainly not one to be dismissed.

This will be Jürgen Klopp’s first summer transfer window, which means there will be plenty of guesses as to what he plans to do with the squad.
