News is emerging, according to Portuguese newspaper A Bola that Liverpool may be working a deal worth £45 million for Porto winger Yacine Brahimi.
The 26-year old winger has appeared for Porto 86 times scoring 22 goals and assisting a further 20 times. Liverpool is in dire need of high quality on the flanks but it is highly doubtful that either Klopp would want a deal like this or that FSG would sanction it.
A Bola claim that Brahimi is “very close” to a move to Liverpool and that the deal would be worth just over £45 million. A big reason for this to be ruled out as total nonsense is that there is rarely a Liverpool transfer that is conducted without media leaks. So there is little chance that such a move is close to fruition.
There is no doubt that Brahimi would be superb for Liverpool but a price tag as mountainous as that would require Liverpool to spend £10 million more than the club’s record transfer fee. Klopp has made it clear he wants new wingers but this seems more typical of the silly season than of an authentic transfer deal.
